Forensic Evaluation

Specialized Assessments for Legal Contexts

Forensic Psychological and Neuropsychological Evaluations are specialized evaluations conducted to inform legal decisions by providing expert insight into an individual’s mental, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral functioning.

Unlike clinical evaluations, which are aimed at diagnosis or treatment, forensic evaluations are conducted with the primary purpose of answering specific legal questions. These evaluations may be ordered by a court, requested by attorneys, or used in civil, criminal, or administrative cases.

Dr. McGoldrick offers forensic evaluations for both civil and criminal cases to help answer questions related to understanding mitigating factors in various areas, such as disability evaluations, civil capacity evaluations (e.g., guardianship, power of attorney), fitness for duty evaluations, and others.
